After the floods in 2012, the government financed the construction of a floodbankin the municipality of Duplek, where the Drava spills into the settlement at almost every major increase in flux. This protection has been a great improvement for Duplek. However, during this increased flow of the Drava River, some deficiencies have been identified in Zrkovci and Dogoše.

Due to strong currents and whirls, some water typically spill in Dvorje and runs from there to Krčevina near Vurberg, where several houses and one farm are endangered, Firefighters can now focus on these problematic locations more in terms of flood risks.

The municipality of Markovci is still facing major problems during high waters. This time they built a temporary embankment, which they had to repair several times.

Prime Minister Marjan Šarec also inspected the situation along the Drava River on Tuesday and praised the operation of firefighters and civil defence. He also pointed out the need for a discussion on amendments to the legislation that would enable the municipalities to ensure safe flow of rivers and streams themselves.
